What Should I Wear To A Burlesque Dance Class?

We want you to feel comfortable moving around and dancing, therefore you should wear something appropriate, meaning anything that would restrict movement such as jeans. Gym shoes are normally great for comfort and movement, however if you have dance shoes then even better! Wear what you would wear to the gym, but maybe with a bit more panache!

While we recommend gym shoes, you may also want to bring some high heels, as the teacher can direct you how to walk with style and grace while wearing heels. Of course, we’ve highlighted comfy clothes, but don’t hesitate to look absolutely fabulous and dress to the part if you feel like it!

Is burlesque dancing good exercise?

As with any form of dance, you should work up a bit of a sweat and get the heart beat racing, meaning yes, you will burn some calories in your class. But we’re also aware that some groups are hen parties or contain people of different levels of physical ability, therefore you can go at the pace and intensity that you wish, or you could simply watch and enjoy the show!

What Will I Learn From A Burlesque Dance Class?

As well as learning to walk in heels and generally learning to walk with style, you will also learn some styled poses to impress your audience. In essence, you will learn the basics of offering a striptease. However, beyond this you will also learn how to stand with correct posture and co-ordinate your body in a sensual manner.

Are Men Allowed In The Burlesque Classes?

It is common to bring guys in the group and that isn’t an issue at all. If you do have any questions about anything, don’t hesitate to get in contact and one of our co-ordinators will be able to answer your questions.

I've Never Danced Before, Does That Matter?

Absolutely not. You will be taught a beginners introduction to burlesque, as we don’t expect attendee’s to be experienced in this art. It’s incredibly fun and you will feel relaxed in no time.

Do I Have To Act Sexy?

This is completely down to the individual, we don’t expect anything you feel uncomfortable with. Our caring dance teachers will walk you through the process, guiding you on the techniques and the routine, however how much you get into it is completely down to you.

What makes a good burlesque dancer?

A truly great burlesque dancer will be able to sink into the moment, they will be passionate and committed to the role, the tease, the action. They will be able to tease the audience and keep them hooked.

How Many People Can I Bring?

The class size is very open to your requirements, depending on the location chosen and the facilities where it takes place, however we are used to big groups such as hen parties and even corporate team building days. We can therefore adjust based on how many people you would like to bring. Do put in a quote and state your number if you would like to find out more.

Will I Have To Strip

No, don’t worry, you will be guided on the technique but we don’t expect you to strip off in the class. You will learn a number of moves and the way to walk with class and style, but you won’t be expected to drop to your knickers!
